Maypole Thank You Letter

The Scout Group are delighted to have received the below letter from The Maypole Project in order to so thank you for the donation of £192.85 at the end of last year.

This was made up of £57 from the Fellowship Christmas Raffle and £135.85 from donations at the Christmas Carol Concert.

The Scout Group are delighted to be able to support other local charities, who do such important work in our local communities.

Stuart Vickers – Panto Hero

After 28 years of doing the lights for the Pantomime, Stuart Vickers has decided to hand the reigns over to someone new. Stuart does so much more than just the lights, and his knowledge and experience has helped the Pantomime be the success that it is today.

In order to thank him for all his work, Stuart was presented with a special memento after his final show. Everyone in the group would like to thank Stuart for his hard work and commitment over the years.

Panto Raises over £3,000!

Huge thank you to everyone who supported our Pantomime – it raised a phenomenal £3,200!

£300 of this will be going towards the young people from the group who are attending the World Scout Jamboree later this year.

Another huge thank you just go to all of the cast and crew, who put so much work into preparations over the last few months. In particular, thanks to Claire Pester, without whom the Pantomime simply wouldn’t be possible.

Gang Show Tickets on General Sale

The biennial Gang Show is an opportunity for all of the sections within the group (young people and leaders!) to get on stage and perform a song, comedy sketch, poem or dance to entertain the crowd. We are delighted that we will once again be joined by the Brownies who will be taking part in the Gang Show for the second time.

It will be held on Saturday 26th of January 2019. The afternoon performance will be at 4.00pm, and the evening performance will be at 7.00pm.

The Gang Show will be held at the 23rd Bromley HQ, Homemead Road, Bromley, BR2 8BB.

All tickets cost £7.50 each.

Tickets now on sale here.

Tickets can be booked through the online system on our website – where you have the option to pay online through our secure PayPal system, or using your Debit or Credit Card. In order to reduce volunteer hours needed to organize the event, all tickets must be booked online.

There are only two performances of the show and tickets are limited, so be sure to book early to avoid disappointment.

Donation from Freemasons

On Thursday evening our Group Scout Leader Jenny Owens attended an event in order to receive a very kind donation towards our planned development of the HQ.

Pictured from left to right: Steve Harrington, Charity Steward of Godyngton Lodge; David Wilcox, Chair of 23rd Bromley Fundraising Committee, Jenny Owens, GSL 23rd Bromley, Richard Jones, Treasurer 23rd Bromley and Treasurer Godyngton Mark Estaugh, Provincial Grand Master, West Kent Masons

Godyngton Lodge gave £500 to the group and this was matched by a cheque for £500 from West Kent Masons. The money will go towards the Rebuilding Fund that the group has started to finance an upgrade to the Scout HQ, which will include new facilities including new toilets. The group are very grateful for this kind donation which will hopefully kick start a big fundraising push.

Keep an eye out for more details about our HQ project at upcoming events…

Donation to Tools with a Mission

We had a very successful day sorting out the stores after a busy season of camping.

We also had a visit from Tools With A Mission who collected a number of old tools that we weren’t able to take to Kenya in the summer. They are a great charity who collect unwanted tools, refurbish them, sort them into trade kits and send them across the world for livelihood creation.

If you have any unwanted tools or sewing machines then take a look at their charity for details about how you can donate them: https://www.twam.uk/
