The 23rd Bromley Scout Group is run by an army of 40 volunteers, and between us we provide Scouting experiences for around 150 Young People every year.
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact on young people’s lives. Volunteering with us is a rewarding opportunity to support the growth and development of your Young People, helping them build confidence, skills, and friendships. Whether you have experience in Scouting or not there are various roles to suit your interests and availability. Join our dedicated team and help inspire the next generation of leaders!
Below is a list of our current volunteer vacancies, ranging from helping at section meetings on a weekly basis, helping with maintenance / gardening at our HQ, to joining one of the committees that support the Scout Group.
Team Member (Spitfire Beavers) – an adult to support delivering the Beaver programme (6 – 8 year olds) at weekly meetings on a Tuesday evening during term time.
Team Member (Cubs) – an adult to support delivering the Cub programme (8 – 10½ year olds) at weekly meetings on a Tuesday evening during term time.
Team Member (Scout Troop) – an adult to support delivering the Scout programme (10½ – 14 year olds) at weekly meetings on a Wednesday evening during term time.
Trustee – an adult or Young Adult (16-18) to contribute to the running of the Group by providing administrative support, strategic direction, compliance with relevant legislation and completion of the duties set out in The Scout Association’s Policy, Organisation and Rules and those of the Charity Commission.
Fundraising Committee – charismatic and open minded individuals sought to join the Fund Raising Committee that organises a wide range of fund-raising events which have previously included Christmas Fairs, Quiz Nights, Race Nights sponsored events and more recently digital fund-raising campaigns.
HQ Maintenance – we are seeking practically minded people to join a small team responsible for undertaking simple maintenance tasks at the HQ on an as required basis. This role can be undertaken at a time convenient to the volunteer.
HQ Gardening – we are seeking someone to be responsible for keeping the flower borders at the Scout HQ tidy and presentable. This role can be undertaken at a time convenient to the volunteer.
Hall Lettings Co-ordinator – we are looking for a volunteer to help co-ordinate a small number of hall lettings (no more than 20 per year), primarily handling email correspondence with individuals interested in booking the hall for birthday parties.
Hall Lettings Key Holder – we are seeking a small number of trustworthy individuals who can act as ‘key holders’ for our hall lettings throughout the year. They would need to open up the hall when it is hired out, and help to lock up when the letting has finished. We are hoping that will a small group of key holders, the circa 15-20 lettings per year can be spread between a number of volunteers.
