Unfortunately, we have had to stop our weekly Scout meetings due to Coronavirus, however that doesn’t mean that we have to stop supporting our local community.
Last week some of our volunteers delivered leaflets to our neighbours to offer any support that we can through these tough times.
Today the group were all too pleased to do some shopping for a local resident who is unable to leave their home.
If you know anybody who would appreciate some support then please let us know.
Following yesterday’s update from the Prime Minister regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) we have been advised by the Scout Association that all face-to-face Scout meetings, activities and events must be suspended from today, Tuesday, 17 March 2020.
This suspension applies to young people and adults, and will be until further notice. As a result no section meetings will be taking place for the foreseeable future and this Sunday’s Church Parade and the HQ Spring Cleaning event planned for Saturday 28th March 2020 have also been cancelled.
We will continue to follow official guidance and keep you updated as soon as we receive further information from the Scout Association. We would like to thank you for your continuing support at this difficult time.
The safety of everyone involved in Scouting, both young people and adults, is our number one priority.
It was a successful Sunday for our Explorer Unit at Bears Wood Campsore – one of our two teams came first in the Scouts of Steel assault course organised by Bromley Scouts. Well done to all who took part!
Each February the group have to submit their numbers for the annual Scout Census.
We are really proud to be one of the largest groups in Bromley and be providing high quality Scouting to 145 Young People. This wouldn’t be possible without the countless hours given up by over 35 volunteers.
If you are interested in getting involved in the adventure, either as a Young Person or adult volunteer then just click here.
Are you able to spare an hour or two to help make a difference to our Scout HQ and grounds?
If so, please come along to the Scout HQ
between 9.30am and 12.30 pm on Saturday 28th March when we will be holding
a Spring Clean Event with plenty of cleaning, tidying and gardening jobs for
all ages and all abilities.
All we ask for is a few hours of your time and
some enthusiasm to do something which will benefit the young people in the
Group. In return we will provide refreshments during the morning.
This half-term Spitfire Beavers had a fun packed Hogwarts themed sleepover at Wilberforce. They had a whole range of excellent activities including cloak tie and owl making, a very muddy game of quidditch, clay cauldrons, wand lessons, campfire and quiz, explosive potions class, a break for some butter-beer, muggle studies in the form of tent putting up and some yummy s’mores on the fires they made.
Below are some photos showing how much of an awesome time they had – thanks to the leaders for putting so much effort into making it so great for the Beavers!
Huge thank you to Flin’s Fitness with Fran for coming along and giving our Explorers a Yoga taster session last night.
They all really enjoyed it and were suitably tired by the end of the evening – some of them even said they wanted to start doing Yoga on a regular basis!
Huge thank you to Sir Robert McAlpine who gave us a donation of over £4,000 which allowed us to purchase a wide range of new camping equipment. It was part of a grant scheme to celebrate the engineering firms 150 year anniversary.
We are now lucky owners of new tents, tables, cooking stoves, lights and event shelters which will allow our Young People to have unforgettable camping experiences.
The cast and crew of Sleeping Beauty are entering their final few rehearsals. There are still tickets available for all performances, however some have very limited availability.
