Thank you to everybody who contributed to the collection at the Carol Concert. We were able to raise around £125 for Bromley Brighter Beginnings.

They are now collecting Christmas jumpers for next years hampers. If anyone has any the would like to donate please bring them to the HQ and we will pass them on.

All leaders and executive members from the group send their best wishes for the festive period and the new year. In particular Jenny & Sandra, our Group Scout Leaders, would like to say:

Huge thank you to everybody who supported our Christmas Fair today. We raised over £550 for group funds, which will help maintain the facilities and enable us to put on brilliant activities for our Young People.

The group are sad to learn that former scout leader John Senior passed away this week.

John led the Scout Troop in the 1960s and 1970s, and then held many roles in the group and district. He was also awarded the Silver Acorn which is presented to those who give over 20 years of specially distinguished service.

You, your family, and your friends, are cordially invited to our very own Christmas Carol Service.

This is one of the special occasions in the year when the families, friends and supporters of the Explorers Scouts, Cubs, Brownies, Rainbows and Beavers of St Augustine’s can all get together. So do bring along all the family and neighbours to enjoy the children’s very own service and kick off a very happy Christmas.

A retiring collection will be taken in aid of Bromley Brighter Beginnings (helping local families in financial hardship) Uniforms and awards will be worn, and it is hoped that all our boys and girls will participate.

On Friday evening, the Scout Troop spent some time exploring their chosen charity; The Hygiene Bank.

In their groups, the Scouts discussed what items they all use to keep themselves and their possessions clean. They then had to identify which were the most important 5 items to them. The Troop then heard from the leaders, some of the facts and statistics around poverty and how it affects hygiene standards in the UK.

A shopping bag of hygiene products was then placed on a table and the Scouts had to guess how much it all cost and then each group was given a different budget to identify what items they could and would buy for their group.

As a whole Troop the Scouts then discussed what they’d learnt and what they may do going forward before sorting the donations we have received so far.

An incredibly insightful evening that challenged our young people’s understanding of some important social issues.

There is a large blue crate in the HQ for any donations you may want to make.

The 23rd Bromley Pantomime Society are excited to be putting on a performance of Sleeping Beauty in January 2020.

After the resounding success last year, one of our Young People (Oliver Ward) will once again be selling chocolate poppies after Remembrance Day Parade.

They will cost 50p each and all ingredients are listed on the back. All funds raised will be donated to the Royal British Legion.

They sold out really quickly last year so make sure you are quick to avoid disappointment…

As a reminder, please meet in the HQ at 10.00am on Sunday in full uniform.

Last weekend 18 of the scouts travelled up to Gilwell Scout Adventures Campsite to take part in the national event “Scarefest”.

A Halloween themed camp with a huge array of activities during the day rangeing from Archery; climbing; dodgems; pumpkin carving; arts and crafts to name but a few.

In the evenings is when it gets scary, the scouts get a dress up and gilwell puts together a few scare mazes with staff dressed up to make the scouts scream as they went around. A large firework display was also put on during Saturday evening to bring the event to a close.

Although it was a bit wet and muddy, everyone had a great time and the leaders were especially happy being able to watch the Rugby on the big screen in one of the cinema rooms.
