As our Young People grow we appreciate they get through a lot of uniforms and camping gear in their time in the group, and we know it can be expensive to keep buying replacements. In order to try to reduce waste, but also make Scouting more affordable, we are looking into setting up a second hand stall each term.
Please leave any donations of outgrown uniforms, walking boots/shoes, wellies and waterproofs in the box in the Scout Hut. Once we have a stock of items we will be looking to organise a second hand stall each term. Proceeds will go towards supporting the Scout Group.
Thanks to Alison Ancrum and Hazel Murphy who are co-ordinating this for the group.
It is with very deep sadness that we have to share with you that Tony Elwood, ‘Tā to his friends at the 23rd, has sadly passed away.
‘Tā spent many happy years helping at our troop, he was a great scout leader, a loyal friend, and an inspirational man who had an amazing sense of humour, which was often seen at campfires and gang shows.
The funeral will be on Thursday 13th October, 2:30pm at Hither Green Crematorium.Iām sure youāll all join us in sending our sincere condolences to his wife, Sue, and his family.
Last weekend Spitfire Beavers went on their first ever two-night camp at Frylands Wood. Their weekend was packed with activities including t-shirt designing, orienteering, science experiments, with archery, climbing, pond dipping, making rockets, baking and den building.
The Beavers even cooked dinner for themselves on Saturday, and made burgers and muffins for their parents on Sunday.
All the beavers did a great job all weekend, their behaviour was brilliant as commented on to me by a number of staff of the campsite, everyone was willing to give all the activities a try.
A huge thanks to the leaders who organised such a great weekend, and a particular thank you to the parents / helpers who supported over the weekend.
Today marks the launch of National Volunteers Week. We wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you to the 40+ volunteers who give up countless hours in order to provide Scouting experiences for our Young People.
The 23rd Bromley Scout Group is run entirely by volunteers. It is not just our Section Leaders, we have a Group Executive made up of volunteers, as well as a Fundraising Committee and lots of individuals who help out with odd jobs and lend a hand at events when needed. Without each and every one of you we couldn’t provide the high quality experience that we pride ourselves on.
