Hopscotch Challenge

The Scout Group are planning a 24 hour hopscotch challenge, from 10am on Saturday 13th April until 10am on Sunday 14th April at the Scout HQ. Collectively we will be sponsored to complete as many hopscotches as possible in 24 hours, and ensuring that we always have at least one person hopscotching at all times.

When the current Scout HQ was built over 50 years ago, the group set a Hopscotch World Record. Whilst its not economical for us to go for another World Record, we want to do a similar the challenge whilst raising funds for the HQ Project.

How will it work?

The 24 hour period will be split into different slots, each of which are aimed towards a specific section (but don’t worry if you are unavailable for your sections time slot, you are welcome along to any of the time slots).

10:00-12:00 – Beavers

12:00-15:00 – Brownies

15:00-18:00 – Cubs

18:00-22:00 – Scouts

22:00-08:00 – Explorers & Network

08:00-10:00 – All Sections

We ask that those who are taking part complete the simple registration form below so that we have a rough idea of numbers taking part:

Parents, guardians, friends and family are welcome to come along and support the challenge throughout the day – we are also hoping to arrange for some refreshments to be on sale throughout the day, as well as breakfast baps in the morning for those who come along to cheer us on through the final stages.

Why are we doing it?

At the 23rd Bromley we are very lucky to have our own hall to use for all of our Scouting activities.  Having such a large hall and field, that we can use as and when we want allows us to provide a variety of Scouting experiences for all ages. However we are aware that there are a number of ways in which the hall can be improved. For example we only have one female toilet which is somewhat of an issue given some sections are predominately made up of girls. Therefore the group are undertaking a “HQ Improvement Project” in order to upgrade the facilities that are available for our Young People and Leaders to use. More details can be found here.

How can you donate to the cause?

You can donate via our JustGiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/page/23rd-bromley-scouts-hopscotch.

Young People will also be given a sponsorship form and will be able to collect sponsors from friends and family – these donations can either be brought along to the event, or provided to Section Leaders after the event.

If you would rather donate funds directly to the group via BACS then please email admin@23rdbromleyscouts.org and we will be happy to provide our bank details.

How can you help?

There will be a variety of jobs that need doing on the day to help ensure that the event runs smoothly – such as making refreshments for participants, signing participants in and out, and most importantly ensuring we keep count of how many hopscotches we have completed!

If you are able to lend a hand at any point throughout the 24 hour period it would be much appreciated. Please email admin@23rdbromleyscouts.org so that we can add you to the rota.

Got any Questions?

If you have any questions, please email admin@23rdbromleyscouts.org and the organising team will get back to you as soon as possible.
