St Christopher’s Hospice Fun Walk

As a Scout Group we will be supporting the St Christopher’s Hospice Fun Walk on Sunday 19th May by manning a check point. Our main duties will be to provide encouragement to participants and to guide them in the right direction. Based on previous years approximately 3,000 people have done the walk each year.

Our check point , No 11 is by Ashmore Farm off Ashmore Lane accessed just past The Crown Inn at Leaves Green. It is just under half way of two of the longer routes of the Fun Walk and accordingly we are told to expect at our people at our check point from circa 9.30am with the last people passing by about 2.30pm.

As well as supporting a local charity this is an opportunity for us to promote the 23rd Bromley in the local community, if you can spare sometime you would be very welcome to come along anytime during the day (either in uniform or wearing a Group Scarf if you are a uniform member of the Group).

If you or your family are taking part in the walk look out for a special warm welcome at checkpoint 11 .

An evening to Remember Mick Golding

It was brilliant that over 80 people came along to the BBQ and Campfire at Wilberforce in memory of Mick Golding this weekend.

There were people of all ages present to reflect on the fond memories they had with Mick over the years. Sue and T put on a brilliant campfire and Mick would have been proud about how big the campfire was!

Thanks in particular to Ian Powell for all his hard work in organising the event.

Gang Show Delivers Again

Over 230 people came to watch our Gang Show on Saturday, and were entertained by 8 different sections from the Scout Group and 2nd Bromley Brownies. There were songs from the Beavers, Cubs and Brownies; funny skits from the Scouts and Explorers and a Disney remake from the Network. As is tradition, the Gang Show ended with traditional campfire songs, including the famous “Riding Along on the Crest of a Wave”. This was a song that Ralph Reader produced for the first ever Gang Show back in the 1930s and its still sung today.

Well done to all of the Young People who took part in the Gang Show, you put a lot of effort into rehearsing and it really paid off. A huge thank you must also go to all of the Leaders who made the event possible.

The Gang Show ticket sales raised over £1,500 for the Scout group and £225 for the Brownies. In addition to this, the retiring collection raised over £750 for the HQ Improvement Project fund.

We are already looking forward to our next Gang Show in 2021!

Gang Show Ticket Update

There are two Gang Show performances on Saturday 26th January 2019 – tickets cost £7.50 each. The first performance is at 4.00pm and the second is at 7.00pm.

Stuart Vickers – Panto Hero

After 28 years of doing the lights for the Pantomime, Stuart Vickers has decided to hand the reigns over to someone new. Stuart does so much more than just the lights, and his knowledge and experience has helped the Pantomime be the success that it is today.

In order to thank him for all his work, Stuart was presented with a special memento after his final show. Everyone in the group would like to thank Stuart for his hard work and commitment over the years.
